Any room over 10 x 10 needs to be power stretched to avoid future wrinkles. Look for this tool on YOUR job. Note the long tubes that connect to the opposite wall. This is a must. Some newer power stretchers have a dual hook on the end. These hooks go through the carpet and anchor on the chipboard below. This tool makes the job easier in tight places, and in those cases where the carpet is not a plush or berber. Early models had only one spike, and this tool damaged the carpet. The single spike model is no longer used by those professional installers who are looking to do the best job they can.
